music presented by top Wellington venue San Francisco Bathhouse’s Acoustic
Lounge Stage, Wellington's own School of Rock Stage, and our Community
Stage for locals which offers a broad range of music, entertainment
and performances. A feature this year is the “Kilbirnie's Got Talent”
competition for primary school kids. It's gonna rock!
Performers on Fair Day include (times and performers may
change):
Community Stage
This popular community stage presents a wide range of
performers and performances, showcasing the talent and diversity of
our community. These are a few of the best acts we will be treated to:
Lydia McDonnell: 21 year old classical/pop
singer, placed well in placed in competitions around New Zealand, Australia
and the US, including in a 'Stars in their Eyes" competition as Hayley
Westenra. Her repertoire includes covers from Andrew Lloyd Webber, Secret
Garden, and Celine Dion.
Miklos Gerely: mime artist extraodinaire!
Kemara Samuels: Wellington singer and
songwriter, from one of Wellington's best musical families, with his
back up show.
Noon - The Rodrigo Brothers: a uniquely
Wellington outfit, with no brothers and probably no Rodrigos, but a
lot of talent, experience and enthusiasm. These seasoned musicians get
together for gigs with this band to play the tunes they want in the
way they want. They have fun, we have fun, some music makes the sun
come out!
Kilbirnie's Got Talent! 1pm-4pm, Community

The highlight of the Festival! Primary school age kids
will compete for the best singer, dancer, and entertainer. Local schools
reap the benefits – schools receive $10 for every competitor who enters;
and a cash prize! Competitors receive prize packages on the day, thanks
to the local retail community. Expect the best! Expect a bit of the
worst as well! But expect to be entertained and to see an enjoyable
and varied showcase of youth talent.

Terry Shore: a true Wellington original,
Terry has been playing around town for years and working on an album
of original material in his own inimitable style. Fun, melodic pop music
that sticks in your head for days.
Louis Baker: a young talent with an amazing
soul voice, Louis is fresh on the Wellington music scene and has started
to recruit musicians to support him. He is going to make it big!
Vorn: Mr Colgan is a true one man band,
accompanying himself on keys, guitar or piano accordian to make some
of the most eclectic and amazing music heard in Wellington.
Highly Unlikely: a disparate 5-piece
band, Highly Unlikely incorporates pop, funk, soul, blues, jazz, gypsy,
country, rock and folk to make an amazing stew of music to sing and
dance to.
Lukin Marlow: an amazing performer either
solo or with a band, Luke brings real songwriting talent and melody
to the fore. His music is powerful, fragile and instantly memorable.
Anton Thomas: a virtuoso guitarist and

of songwriters. He incorporates a number of styles and influences, and
his band is capable of making amazing music.
Rose': Another emerging talent, Rose'
brings her band together to make music that balances on her beautiful
operatic singing and delicate arrangements. A real crowd pleaser who
writes anthems for dancing to.
The Gracious Deviants: Pete and Darrel
have been writings songs together for years, and their unique blend
of classic pop sensibilities and perfect harmonies bring the two together
to create something bigger than the sum of its parts.
One of the highlights of this stage will be Louis
Baker. Louis is a soul, jazz, and blues soloist. At age 13
he picked up the guitar, by 16 he was writing and composing, and by
17 Louis’ song “Three Ladies” was a finalist in the prestigious NZ competition
Play It Strange and was released on the Play It Strange Compilation
album. Louis’ talent was identified again later that year, winning the
acoustic sessions of the NZ national band competition with his band
The Primal Youth. Most recently Louis has focused on formalising his
art, enrolling in a music degree majoring in jazz guitar at Massey University
of Wellington. He has combined this with regular gigs in popular Wellington
venues like the San Francisco Bathhouse, Bodega, the Southern Cross,
Garden Club and The Ruby Lounge, culminating in a gig supporting The
Feelers in January 2010.
Louis Baker draws influence from John Mayer, Herbie Hancock,
Joni Mitchell and Jimi Hendrix, and dreams one day of performing in
hallowed arenas of these fabled musicians. From here Louis is looking
forward to completing his education, continuing to develop his music,
and performing before an ever broadening and appreciative audience.
A man of principle, good-will, and maturity beyond his
years, Louis is focused on making the music he loves for people who
know how to love.

Cross Eyed Mary Bio March 2010
Formed approx three years ago. C.E.M are a young all-girl
rock band with steampunk leanings. The lead singer and the drummer have
an unhealthy obsession with Dr Who. Just because they're all-girl doesn't
mean they're girly. They'll surprise you with a hard rock sound, but
driving and danceable.
Members are:
Oli Ryan (17), lead vocalist, keyboards.
Morgan Ryan (18), yes Oli's sister, Bass, vocs.
Katelin Bull (18), Drummer...occasional vocs
Poppy O'Dowd (16) Guitar
CEM were very successful in 2009, winning the Hutt regional
RockQuest, scooping Best Song, and Oli getting Best Lyrics in their
first time competing. Morgan came 2nd in 2008 with her previous band
Truly Scrumptious, plus winning best song and was also a member of the
much missed girlrock sensation MissGuided Youth. Katelin received the
Best Female Musician award 2008 in the Wellington Regional Final and
is a drumming demon. They are experienced performers, with a predominantly
original set. These girls are the future of rock in NZ and are a force
to be reckoned with.
